The Velveteers' new song "Bound In Leather" is an ode to transcending one's own confines, complete with the band's signature "monstrous sound" (Under The Radar) and "buzzing pile-driver" (SPIN) energy. Front woman Demi Demitro says about the Dan Auerbach-produced track, "To me, 'Bound In Leather' feels like looking through a kaleidoscope. It's a song about feeling bound in your skin, the chorus in part being inspired by a type of dysphoria. Feeling trapped by your own skin and wishing you weren't bound by its limitations here on earth. It also has many themes of feeling guarded and needing someone to prove their trust to you, cause they aren't going to win it over so easily. When we started coming up with lyrics, I was singing and Dan kept telling me to sing higher and higher. Singing falsetto is something I don't normally do, but it just felt really right for the song."
